Thomas founded Unison and leads the company’s overall strategic direction. He has more than twenty years of experience building large-scale consumer finance and investment management businesses at companies such as Barclay’s Global Investors, where he managed the $28 billion residential mortgage portfolio, built the first Fixed Income ETF (iShares), and developed Barclay’s Global Multi-Strategy and Credit Long/Short fund. 

Thomas holds an Academy Economist degree from Niels Brock’s Academy of International Business in Copenhagen, Denmark. He has served on the Board of Outward Bound. Plus: he's also an avid sailboat racer and kite surfer, and launched the world’s first junior kiteboard race team.

As Unison’s President, Ryan oversees the company’s operational strategy and is responsible for managing the day-to-day business. He leads all of Unison’s consumer and production functions, which include: Business Development, Data Science & Engineering, Production & Investment Operations, Product, and Marketing.
 

Ryan joins Unison after a decade as President and CEO of Proxibid, a leading online platform for buying and selling highly valued assets, including real estate. Proxibid experienced tremendous growth under Ryan’s leadership, reaching $6B in annual transaction volume and resulting in an acquisition by a private equity group in 2020. Prior to Proxibid, Ryan was a top executive at Paypal (later acquired by eBay). As SVP of Worldwide Operations, he was responsible for approximately 5700 FTEs engaged in numerous functions, including Consumer Service, Merchant Service, Sales, Compliance, and Risk Operations. In addition to his PayPal responsibilities, Ryan also managed eBay Global Customer Support, which included an additional 6000 FTEs, from 2007 to 2008.
 

Prior to his work at Paypal and eBay, Ryan served as CEO at Omaha-based web development and IT consulting form, eTopia Technologies. Before that, he was a partner at the law firm Bartlit Beck Herman Palenchar & Scott in Denver, Colorado, where he specialized in complex commercial litigation.
 

Ryan currently serves on the Board of Directors for Assurity Life Insurance Company in Lincoln, Nebraska. He also serves on several nonprofit boards, including Bellevue University, NorthStar, and the Corporate Advisory Board for the Raikes School of Computer Science and Management at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Ryan earned a B.S. in Agricultural Sciences in 1991 from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and a J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1994. He was born and raised on his family’s farm outside Hershey, Nebraska, and currently resides in Springfield, Nebraska with his wife, Valerie, and their three children, Emily, Lauren, and Carson.

Matt is Unison's Chief Investment Officer responsible for all investments at Unison Investment Management and its associated research. Matt’s most recent previous engagement was to run the LifePath series of funds at BlackRock. LifePath is a multi-asset (target date) series of funds with global reach and over $300B in assets. The funds were gold-rated by MorningStar and carried such ratings ranging from 3 to 5 (the highest rating). In addition, they were buy-rated by all major consultants. In addition, Matt also spoke frequently on the subjects of retirement savings and retirement spending. 

He worked at BGI/BLK from 2003-when he graduated as valedictorian from the Masters in Financial Engineering program at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business-to February, 2021. Besides running the LifePath series of funds, Matt developed the CoRI retirement indexes and their associated analytics and interface, known as iRetire. Previous to his work in multi-asset portfolio management and retirement innovation, Matt worked in the quantitative fixed income group at BGI. His work included researching, assisting in the launch, and running, of BGI’s flagship quantitative credit long/short fund. He has also researched and launched funds in the government bond and securitized credit spaces. He has also consulted in the single family residential FinTech space over the years.
 
Matt has also served on the board of the CFA Society of San Francisco, including as president.

Chief Investment Officer

Brittany is responsible for accounting and financial reporting across Unison Investment Management’s investment vehicle entities. She further assists the Investment Operations Team with portfolio analytics, forecasting, and investor relations. Prior to joining Unison in 2021, Brittany was an audit senior at Sensiba San Filippo LLP where she planned and conducted financial statement audits for venture capital funds, private technology companies, and employee benefit plans. Brittany graduated from California State University, Chico, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting. Brittany holds an active CPA license in California.

Daisy is an Investment Strategist responsible for driving the strategy and growth of new institutional investor capital. Daisy focuses on institutional investments for Family Offices, RIAs, and University Endowments across the US, LATAM, and Asia, with the goal of delivering Unison's investment strategy and thought leadership to institutional investors looking for exposure in US Home Equity and asset backed securities. 
 
Prior to joining Unison in 2021, Daisy was an Analyst at BlackRock, Inc. San Francisco serving within their Global Provider Strategy team, executing the operating strategy for partnering custodial, fund accounting, and transfer agents.
 
Daisy received her Bachelor’s from the University of California, Berkeley in 2019 and a certificate in Business Entrepreneurship from Berkeley Engineering.

Investment Strategy Associate

Winfield employs advanced quantitative finance knowledge and data science skills in investment research and portfolio management. His role involves option valuation, risk modeling, and portfolio optimization activities. He provides analytical firepower, leads research projects and develops next-generation technology to support the investment decision-making process. Before joining Unison, Winfield worked on portfolio analytics and execution research at FORT L.P., a quantitative hedge fund based in Washington, D.C. Prior to that, he worked at Micron Technology where he led global process optimization projects by leveraging and analyzing mass production data using statistical and machine learning techniques.
 
Winfield received a Bachelor of Engineering with First Class Honors from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and a Master of Financial Engineering from the Haas School of Business, UC Berkeley.

Director of Data Science

Ryan is a Director of Business Development for Unison Investment Management based in Fairfield, CT and is responsible for driving the growth of new institutional investor capital in the United States and Canada.

Prior to joining Unison, Ryan worked at Eurekcap Partners as a Senior Vice President of capital introductions. He was also a Business Development Specialist at Lord Abbett Mutual Funds and worked at GE Capital in the Bank Loan Group.

Ryan received a B.S. from Gettysburg College in Business Management with a Double Minor in History and African History. He holds FINRA Series 7 and 63.

Director of Business Development

Oleh Tovkach is a Quantitative Portfolio Analyst within Unison's Portfolio Management and Research team. A physicist by training, Oleh is fascinated with complex multi-agent systems. At Unison, he develops various quantitative models for portfolio management and research. 

Before joining Unison, Oleh was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Physics Department at Georgetown University. He holds a PhD from Bogolyubov Institute for Theoretical Physics (Ukraine).

Quantitative Portfolio Analyst

Xiaowen is a Data Science Analyst at Unison. She focuses on bringing data-driven insight to investment decision-making through quantitative and qualitative analysis, and enhancing and maintaining direct-mail forecast models to optimize direct marketing performance. 

Before joining Unison, Xiawoen obtained a Master of Analytics from the University of Chicago, specializing in machine learning and data science. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Managerial Economics from the University of California, Davis.

Data Science Analyst

A scientist by day and an artist by night, Wenyao is an enthusiast of data visualization, solving mathematical puzzles and occasionally, building Lego sets. At Unison, he derives insights from data using a variety of statistical tools and adds value through standardization and automation. Prior to that, he worked as a credit risk analyst at a commercial bank.
Wenyao received a Master of Financial Engineering from UCLA Anderson School of Management and a Bachelor of Science from Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

As Director, Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) and Corporate Counsel, Keren is responsible for the firm’s compliance with the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 and other laws, rules and regulations that apply to the investment management industry. Prior to joining Unison, Keren served as CCO for Strategic Wealth Advisors Group, a registered investment adviser focusing on retail and retirement investors, and General Counsel at Law Finance Group, a litigation funding firm. Prior to that, Keren served as CCO at Vector Capital, a technology-focused private equity investment firm. Prior to becoming a compliance professional, Keren served in a number of investor relations and legal roles in publicly-traded technology and services companies.
 
Keren holds a Juris Doctor from the University of San Francisco School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in English and Psychology from the University of Delaware. Keren holds a Series 7 general securities representative license, a California insurance license and is an active member of the State Bar of California.
